Custom Wardrobes Central Coast

A wardrobe should do more than hold your clothes. Done properly, it changes how a bedroom feels to wake up in and how much time you spend hunting for things on a Monday morning. That’s the difference between a wardrobe that was ordered off a shelf and one that was actually designed around the room it sits in.

At Central Coast Kitchens & Wardrobes, every wardrobe is made to measure. That sounds like a small detail until you’ve lived with a wardrobe that almost fits, where the last twenty centimetres of a wall sit empty because a flat pack unit only comes in fixed widths. Custom means the layout, the internal configuration and the finish are all built around your space and how you actually use it, not around what happened to be in stock.

We’re a family owned joinery business based in West Gosford, established in 1997. Daniel and Tamara Barns lead the team, bringing more than 30 years of combined industry experience and award recognised design backgrounds to every project. That matters more than it might seem, because a wardrobe that looks right on paper doesn’t always work in the room. Getting it right takes the kind of judgement that only comes from having done it many times before.

Wardrobe Styles for Every Space

The first decision is layout: built in or walk in. The second is doors: sliding or hinged. These are two separate choices, and a lot of homeowners assume they’re the same conversation.

We measure your space and talk through how you actually use the room, not just what it looks like now.

Our Wardrobe Process

We keep the process the same one we use for every custom joinery project, because it removes most of the guesswork. One thing that catches people out is assuming a custom wardrobe means a long, disruptive job. In most cases it doesn’t. Timeframes do vary depending on the size and complexity of the design, so we’ll give you a realistic timeframe once we’ve seen the space, rather than a generic estimate that doesn’t hold up once the job starts.

Custom Wardrobes Across the Central Coast

Our factory and showroom are at 7/18 Stockyard Place in West Gosford, and we build and install wardrobes right across the Central Coast. If you’re not sure whether that includes your suburb, the easiest way to check is to call us on 02 4332 0905, since the honest answer depends on the specific job and access rather than a strict boundary on a map.

Visiting the showroom is worth doing before you commit to anything. Photos and website images only tell you so much about how a finish looks or how a drawer runner actually feels when you use it. Seeing wardrobe displays and configurations in person tends to clear up decisions that feel harder to make from a screen.

Materials and Customisation

Because every wardrobe is custom, nothing about the internal layout or finish is fixed.

  • Long hanging, for dresses and coats
  • Double hanging, for shirts and jackets
  • Open shelving, for folded items
  • Deep drawers, for bulkier items
  • Shoe storage and jewellery inserts, built in from the start rather than added later
  • Laminate or a smooth polyurethane finish for hinged doors
  • Standard aluminium framed panels, textured or mirrored, for sliding doors
  • Upgraded colour and profile choices, including shaker style and v groove detailing

We’ll talk you through what’s available and what suits your budget once we understand the room.

A wardrobe doesn’t have to be limited to clothes. We regularly build in a desk, a study nook or a small laundry cabinetry section alongside the wardrobe itself, which makes sense in a lot of Central Coast homes where a spare room has to do more than one job.

Wardrobe FAQs

They’re built completely differently. A hinged door wardrobe is constructed as a full carcass, similar to a kitchen pantry, and fitted into place with fillers to match the room. A sliding door wardrobe is generally built from components on site, which uses less material and is usually the more budget friendly option. Sliding suits rooms where floor space is limited, since the doors don’t swing outward. Hinged gives full access to the interior at once and suits rooms with more clearance. The right choice comes down to the space you have, your budget and how you’ll actually use the wardrobe day to day.
Yes. Every wardrobe is made to measure, and the internal layout, hanging sections, drawers, shelving and accessories are all configured around what you need to store.
We do both. Each layout is planned around your available space, your storage needs and how the wardrobe fits into the rest of the bedroom.
You can choose from a range of door finishes and colours across both hinged and sliding options, from timber look and solid colour through to mirror finishes, along with a variety of profiles and hardware. We’ll go through the current range with you during your consultation.
It depends on the size and complexity of the design. Because cabinetry is manufactured off site and arrives ready to fit, installation itself is usually completed efficiently once the design is finalised.
Yes. We can build a desk, a study area or laundry cabinetry into a wardrobe design where the room needs to serve more than one purpose.
